Tea Tree
A very useful medicinal oil with a fresh
aroma. Supports the immune system and is active against bacteria,
fungi and viruses. Used extensively by the Aborigines, this
oil is now widely recognised by the scientific community as
a powerful tool against a variety of infectious organisms. In
1930 Mr W R Penfold fouund it to be 11-13 times stronger than
carbolic as a germicide.
Uses: Abscesses and boils, acne, athlete's foot and ringworm,
bronchitis and coughs, burns, chilblains, cold sores, common
cold, cuts, fever and flu, greasy skin, hair care (dandruff
and lice), insect bites, measles, rashes, sore throat, spots,
thrush, verrucae, viral infections, warts.
Methods: Bath, Massage & Skin Oil, Vaporisations. Apply
neat for First Aid.
Cautions: May cause sensitisation in some people - do
a skin patch test first. (i.e. put a drop on the back of the
hand first to see if any irritation occurs. If it does, then
bathe hand in cold water and in future use tea tree oil blended
with one teaspoon of gel for first aid use, rather than neat).
