According to those old wives' tales, your hair is your crowning glory
and indeed if it doesn't look or feel right, then you don't feel right
either. Isn't that true? Our hair reflects the general health and
well being of our whole body and well being so every effort needs
to be made to keep your body healthy and our crowning glory clean
and in condition.
Even if you use the best hair care products, there are many reasons
why your hair becomes out of condition - a poor diet, lack of sleep,
stress, exposure to the elements, pollution, or dry, air conditioned,
centrally heated rooms.
- The first step in achieving glorious hair is to make sure that
it is thoroughly cleansed. Always use the correct shampoo for
your hair type and change or experiment with different types until
you find one that best suits you.
- How often you wash your hair is really a personal issue - washing
your hair every day is not a problem, as long as it is not too
harsh and is specially formulated to be used in that way. There
should be no need to wash twice unless your hair is very dirty.
- Have regular haircuts every six to eight weeks to minimise damage
and dry, split ends brought about by Life and excessive styling.
Hair Rinses
A slightly acidic solution will restore shine
to your hair. Try two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar diluted in
a pint of water. This will remove all traces of shampoo residue and
leave your hair extra shiny.
- For darker hair types, steep two tablespoons of fresh rosemary
(or dried) in a pint of boiling water. Allow to cool, strain,
and use as a final rinse.
- For lighter hair, use a Chamomile infusion (or the juice of
two lemons) diluted in the final rinse water.
